site issues

A few of you placing orders have already noticed but our store security has been upgraded. What this means: Debit Cards are disliked, sorry. Unless all billing information on your order precisely matches the billing information assigned to your Debit Card – it will more than likely be rejected. Same goes with (credit) gift cards.

If you use a Debit Card and payment fails, the charge will not go through. However, the issuing bank will always put a temporary hold on that amount – which could last last a few days until the balance is returned to your account. This means if you use a Debit Card as form of payment, and you continue to hit ‘submit order’ and it continues to fail, you’ll wake up the next day finding several charges on your Debit Card. Again, BrickForge didn’t actually collect any money – this is your bank holding the various amounts until they realize payment was never collected.

Sorry if this is overly-technical but with the increased amount of fraud going on we felt it best to increase our security for the benefit of both BF and our customers. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Few updates RE: shop
1) Adding an item to your cart no longer forwards you to your shopping cart. This was changed to eliminate the hassle of hitting the ‘back’ button.
2) Add Multiple Items to Cart has been added to the bottom of each category page. This allows for faster bulk ordering. (additional improvements are being considered)
3) Due to these changes the default product quantity has been set to 0.
3.5) To add an item to your wishlist you must set the quantity to at least 1.

I’m not sure how widespread this is but it appears PayPal has been having server issues the past two days. Since BrickForge relies on the PayPal gateway to accept both PP and Credit Card Payments customers may receive time-out errors during checkout.

Those visiting over the next few hours may wonder what is going on. No worries. We are undertaking a much needed, multi-faceted site upgrade. With over 8 million hits a month our website has been running beyond capacity for the past few weeks. The front page – which you see now is being converted to a more reader-friendly format and the store and forums will all have a new home. Please bear with us over the next day as we finish breathing new life into our website.
