The nitrate melted and mixed with the sandy beach to form an opaque liquid. Over the next millennium jar makers used this liquid to glaze pots & vases until the art of glassblowing introduced all glass containers. Fast-forward several hundred of years to the industrial revolution when the Round Bottle was used all over to contain concoctions ranging from spirits to snake-oil.
