The oldest form of shield was a protection device used to block attacks by hand weapons such as swords, axes and maces or missiles like spears and arrows. Whereas light shields could block glancing blows, heavier ones like the Battle Shield turned ordinary infantry into an immovable wall. Traditionally made of wood and covered in bronze the sheer weight made it a dangerous weapon. A thrust forward with the shield could knock an opponent down, setting up for an easy kill. A strike from the shield's edge was deadly, as it could break bones and fatally fracture the skull. The Battle Shield is cast with a smooth surface on the outside so you can apply your own insignia using decals, paints or other preferred medium. Flat inside consists of a centered, standard minifig grip.

The Battle Helmet was created alongside our Battle Armor to provide battalions a matching full-piece set of armor. 270° protection and nose guard offer maximum defense while emblazoned crest and vertical comb compliment a clean and noble design. The Centurion Helmet is actually descended from an earlier Greek (Attic) helmet which came into fashion after the original Corinthian fell out of favor. Essentially it was a Chalcidian helmet with no nasal bar, hinged cheek guards and an inverted V-shaped brow plate. It was quite popular in the early Greco-Roman world where it was often ornately decorated and mainly used in ceremony. The reliefs of Trajan's Column support the idea that the Attic helmet survived well into the 1st Century AD to be used by Roman officers such as Tribunes, Legates and Praetorians in similar fashion. The Elven Helmet is as stoic and graceful as the elves themselves. They are not easy to construct, and the finest ones could last for generations. It is no surprise that a certain amount of mystery surrounded both their making and their use. Honestly, we're not quite sure how the Angry DwarfSmith pulled this one off, other than to mention something about Faenor. Perfect for woodland sentries or equipping a column for battle, our Elven Helmet was crafted with side and top plume sockets for a variety of adornments. Note: Brown Elven Helmets have a small surface stress mark near the upper eye hole. For a reason we can't explain the Brown color magnifies these marks which occur when they pop out of the mold.

Based on traditional Thracian designs, our Gladiator Helmet is the perfect accessory for your minifigs waiting to skirmish in the Colosseum. Thracian gladiators naturally hailed from Thrace and were often captured in battle by the Romans and forced to fight for sport. Their helmets consisted of a wide metal brim encircling the helmet which was great for shielding against high and rear attacks. The massive crest rises high above the helmet itself creating somewhat of an intimidating effect. Their choice of weapon was either the Trident or a short curved sword, not unlike the ancient Spanish Falcata. Attach one of our Gladiator Masks for added effect. Fits most standard minifig heads.

The Great Helm of the High Middle Ages arose in the late 12th century in the context of the crusades and remained in use until the 14th century. They were used by knights and heavy infantry in most European armies. In its simplest form, the great helm was a flat-topped cylinder of steel that completely covered the head and had only very small openings for the eyes and mouth. Later designs gained more of a curved design, particularly on the top, to deflect or lessen the impact of blows. Probably developed in the 8th century BC, the Corinthian Hoplite Helmet was designed to offer maximum protection through its dramatic face shield and domed top which was perfect for resisting glancing blows. The backbone of the Roman army were the Legionaries; and the Imperial Gallic style Legionary Helmet provided the protection they needed to conquer the known world. Much like the real thing, our Legionary Helmet features a sloped neck, chin guards, horizontal brow and a pair of distinctive embossed eyebrows on the forehead region. The Particle Pack provides a portable way to accelerate and contain a questionable amount of electrically-charged particles to be used for *ahem* scientific purposes. The Particle Pack has a half-life of a few thousand years and can provide up to 500,000 MHZ, but steer clear of the self-destruct mechanism lest you reduce a half-mile radius to dust. Holster the Particle Gun or add your own components using the standard 1x1 connection points.
