In modern times it has become more of an emblem to signify rank, allegiance, squadron or area of expertise. Early bows had a fairly basic shape and were made of carved or flat planes of wood. The Recurve Bow took physics to the next level by utilizing composite materials and a unique double-rounded shape. The Shepherd Crook has been the staple accessory of herdsman since ancient times. Primarily used as a walking stick for treading uneven ground, the crook features a rounded head commonly used for rescuing and corralling livestock. A crook might also have been used to hold a sheep in place while the animal was shorn. The Shepherd Crook was also used as means of protection; the shepherd could easily ward off predators and lead the flock to safety. It has also seen symbolic use as a scepter held by Egyptian pharaohs and medieval clergymen. Fits most standard minifig hands.
