Its origins can be traced back to third millennium Sumeria where it was most likely developed from its implement cousin; used to harvest grain or cutting grass for hay. Much like axes, spears & hammers; ancient sickles were modified by laborers into makeshift weapons for defense & protection. The Longbow is a fairly tall, D-shaped bow which accomodatesan extra long draw. As such it has been instrumental in many cultures as both a hunting tool and weapon of warfare.
