Thanks! The standoff is based on the Berlin Standoff, when German Red troops and NATO forces line up across the street from each other, ready to fire at any second. Fortunately, the situation was diffused. I read an essay about it in "The Collected What If?" book. They said we'd probably all be dead today if one guy accidentally discharged his weapon. =U

Wow, scary! =O That could have easily been WWIII. Well, just another thing to show us what a fragile thing history is.
