Good luck, man! I've been to Dubai once or twice myself, and I can tell you it's hot as Hell over there during the summer (I was deployed to the Gulf in 2001 and again in 2004).... As my one ex-Navy buddy once snarkily commented, "If I owned both the Gulf and Hell, I'd live in Hell and rent the Gulf out!" ;)

BTW, there's a HUGE mall in downtown Dubai that's got lots of great stores: I bought my all-in-one copy of Lord of the Rings at the bookstore there, and I have a set of (heavily modified) computer speakers I bought at the Radio Shack in Dubai...

DtB - Do you know what you want to do in the Navy? I come from the Expeditionary side of the Navy. Hikaro Takayama was more the traditional Navy on ships and what not... so I guess it all depends on what you want to do. But I'm sure I can steer you in the right direction.

Yep 130 Fahrenheit. Hottest day I had in Iraq was 141 with the heat index... So it wasn't really 141... but with humidity and all it felt like 141. You walk out of your room and within... maybe 30-40 seconds you were soaking wet with sweat. We would drink close to 2 gallons a day (I had trouble drinking 1 gallon) But it was a good experience the whole thing was.

I want to be a Navy Seal, I don't like being on boats that much but I don't like at all Sub-Marines - I don't like not being able to fight back or not make a tactical retreat. :)

Well you'd be surprised but ALOT of Seals get stationed on ships AND subs... Navy Seals fall under the Expeditionary side of the Navy and there are a lot of other greats Rates to choose from.

As long as I don't have to live on the sub for an extended period of time I can live with it I guess. What should I do to become a Navy Seal?
