Exceprt from Jayne's Uniformed Services of the World, 2110 ed, Newark Publishing, Republic of New Jersey:

The Federal Republic of America Special Operations Command (SOCom) is an elite branch of the Federal Military, with the "Knights" being rough equivalents of the old US Green Berets and the "Samurai" being the rough equivalent of the old US Navy SEALs. The Current Joint Chief of Staff for SOCom (Chief of Special Operations) is General Hikaro Takayama, who is a member of the Samurai division.

Federal Samurai are equipped with Unobtainium Armor, Unobtainium vibro-Katanas and either "Cosmo Harqebuss" Energy Rifles or "Cosmo Dragoon" energy pistols. The Federal Samurai are some of the most skilled and dangerous fighters on the North American continent, and lone Nazgûl and Chaos Champions have been known to flee at the sight of a mere squad of Federal Samurai moving in for the kill.

The Knights consist of both infantry "Men At Arms" as well as mounted "Dragoon" divisions. The Dragoons are usually mounted on Arabian/Andalusian horses and can be found patrolling the Wastes and escorting trade convoys through the wastes on the "Redmond Road" to the Free State of Redmond. Many of the independent city-states and principalities are more than happy to see a Federal Knight patrol pass through, due to the fact that the Raider population in the immediate vicinity tends to suffer a rapid demise when the Dragoons are in the area. The Federal Dragoons are equipped with Unobtainium full-environmental battle armor, Cosmo Harqebuss Energy Rifles, Cosmo Dragoon energy pistols, Vibro-Claymores and vibro-Halberds. In addition to more typical mounts (horses, camels, unicorsn, dewbacks, etc), Dragoons on Convoy Escort/Caravan Guard duty will employ Steam Tanks, due to the fact that said tanks only need water and something combustible to run.

Finally, there is the Federal Men At Arms who make up the Infantry component of the Federal Knights. While not as elite as the Samurai or the Dragoons, they are still extremely formidable fighters and the arrival of even a single platoon of Men At Arms has been known to have turned the tide of battle on numerous occasions. Men at Arms are equipped with Unobtainium environmental Armor, Cosmo Harqebuss energy rifles, Vibro-Longswords (Standard-issue-wise, anyways, however, like many elite units, some Men At Arms prefer to use their own personal close-combat weapons, and as long as those weapons meet combat specifications, then they may do so), with Officers being armed with Cosmo Dragoon energy pistols instead of the energy rifles. Men At Arms Heavy-Weapons Specialists are equipped with Unobtainium Hardsuits and armed with 0.50 Caliber "Lewis" Machineguns and Cosmo Dragoon Energy Pistols.

Well, hope you guys like them.... One group I didn't include was the Ultra-Elite "Ninja Team 7", due to the fact that none of them were armed or equipped with Brickforge products.... Yet! As soon as Armothe gets some dadgum Ammo Pouches in stock, then you'll see them. ;)

I'll also try and post some of the other Federal Republic of America military units sometime later this week or next week....

Are those the Black Muskets you ordered?

Nice figs!

I have no idea about the books, but these minfigs are great!

I think I like the Samurai & Gladiators equally, but all look cool.

Thanks! I wanted my good guys, especially the Dragoons, to look at least as intimidating as the bad guys in this setting... I was initially going to use the Greathelms, but they, unfortunately, don't work with the Battle Armor, so I decided to try the Gladiator Helmets and Masks... All in all, I like how it turned out.

I'm also glad SOMEBODY got the Goetrek & Felix references... Those are my favorite Black Library books, and one of my favorite fantasy series of all time (still can't beat Narnia or LoTR, though).... Ever since Goetrek Gurnisson and Felix Jaeger got sucked into Crapsack, er, post-Final War Earth, Goetrek has added several tanks, a couple of steam-powered mecha, a couple of Dementors and a Nazgûl (just to name a few) to the list of things he's slain. (Of course, with Sauron tapping into the raw powers of Chaos, he can just create a new Nazgûl from some random Chaos Warrior when one gets killed)...

Khopesh: Yes, those ARE the black Muskets that I recently ordered, but it seems that I need to order some more (I still have a few SOCom troops that need their "Cosmo Harqebusses")... Once the Ammo pouches are back in stock, I'll be making another order (I also just stumbled onto an awesome combo, i.e. the BrickForge Gladiator Masks actually work with the BrickArms Stalhelms, which will be perfect for the Army troops of one of the main antagonists in this setting.)

Fives & Minifigcharmed: Thanks for the compliments... FYI, my Sig-Fig uses the same torso, armor and helmet combo as a typical Samurai Officer, although that is a relatively recent update... Originally, I just used the Blue Samurai from the original Ninja series, but I just couldn't pass up the collectible Minifig Samurai, and decided to use them as Officers/Senior NCOs, which, ironically enough, is the exact opposite of the color scheme that the Federal Marine Corps uses (the enlisted/junior NCOs have red uniforms, while the Officers have blue ones)

As for the books I was referencing to, two of the figs in the Men At Arms division are characters from the Goetrek & Felix series, which is set in the Warhammer universe... Goetrek Gurnisson is a Slayer, a disgraced dwarf who is seeking to redeem his honor by seeking death in combat against the biggest, meanest, nastiest monster he can find... 12 books later, he STILL hasn't found anything big, mean or nasty enough to defeat him. Felix Jaeger is his human travelling companion and a disgraced scholar who, during a drunken bender after Goetrek saved his life, swore an oath to record the slayer's doom for posterity... It's a really good series, and I reccomend you check it out.

BTW, that isn't the only shout-out I included... The Cosmo Dragoons are a reference to a number of shared-universe anime/manga series by Leiji Matsumoto, namely "Galaxy Express 999", "The Harlock Saga", and "Queen Emeraldis".

...Oh, and the "Kimono Girl" in the most recent (series 4) collectible minifigures has inspired me to modify them into a Federal Republic of America version of the Kyoshi Warriors from Avatar: The Last Airbender. :D (Basically they are a sub-unit in the Federal Samurai, much like Ninja Team 7)....
