Assuming that the new PoTC sets are already utilizing this technique with Jack Sparrow, Blackbeard, and whats her face with hats, I think that BF should do something similar with headgear that can fit snugly over hairpieces, specifically this and this other pieces come close).

If Lego can do it, so can BF! :O

Whether that's what the PoTC sets are doing is debatable (though I hope so), but this wouldn't be so different in theory from, say, the headlamp. I'm for it!

Personally I do not think that the new stuff is two seperate pieces, that is way too much thinking time for the designers at LEGO.

It is more likely to make new hair pieces that go under the hats. The problem lies in the fact that the point of contact between the pieces is not the same for every hair/hat LEGO has, so the piece would be limited to one or two uses only. To make a hat that fits over the hair would require a very big hat, and the connection would be suspect at best because there is no stud to connect to on top of the head.

I have this on my list of wants to, so I am all in, but the logistic of it are not as easy as they seem!

think outside of the box people instead of coming up with hats and headgear that fit on hair, come up with hair designs that fit under hats and headgear.

let me take this one step further, the hair would look like hair going around but on top would be just a flat piece that fits over the stud with room for a hat or helmet to be attached to the stud.

Well I figured it out when the chick pirate has the new hair that is also on Elizabeth and mermaids. And she wears a hat. Plus they look rubbery-ish.

LEGO has already merged heads with headgear and it's always been a permanent fixture. If BF undertakes something like this, it will be similar to how Playmobil does it.
