Yes, I wasn't as impressed with the superhero idea after writing that. :9 It reminded me WAY too much of Batman. You are right; I'll do a test story for adventurers. :D

TEST: (This contains both espionage AND adventurers)

Ohio Oreo in: Area 51

For years, people have speculated what goes on inside the highly secretive US government base known as Area 51. Some have claimed that aliens are stored and examined here. Others say it is a highly-secretive weapons-making facility. What really is going on inside the secretive base? Ohio Oreo, professional adventurer, aims to find out. With the help of his friends, James Makart and Joe Hunde, he plans on sneaking into the covert facility and seeing if the government is really up to something no good. The complex is maximum security- helicopters, patrol vehicles, tanks, battalions, plain clothes-men, and cameras. Before the three can make it through the Area 51 gauntlet of death, they'll need to assemble a team of experts, each a specialist in their own field. Who knows if they are what they seem? They could only be in it for money, or worse, spies for Russia, China, or some other country.

Hum this and re-read it: Duhhhh... duh, duh, duhhhh! Duhhh... duh, duhhh! Duhhh... duh, duh, duhhh, duh, da duh, duh, duh! :9

Found this on Google images :

I much prefer adventurers over superheroes now, but I'm still undecided.

EDIT: The reason I gave my test characters "Makart" as a last name is because it is Austrian, as I am, Oreo is from Ohio, and I don't think I need to explain Joe Hunde. ;)

Area 51 is pretty bland by itself, but the adventure/espionage part makes it sound very exciting. You should do this story!

You mean a stereotypical superhero? Yeah, what is up with them always working for newspapers?

Yeah, if we set it, say, right after the fall of the USSR in the 90's, and bring aliens into it, it would be: historical fiction, sci-fi, adventurer, and espionage. Wow, lotta possibilities. But, I don't know if HK and Oreo are interested in that specific story.

I don't want to hog up the test stories. So, I'll just write a test for another adventurers story, so Oreo and HK are free to write test stories for Wild West and all the others.

Ohio Oreo in: Elvis is Alive

Ohio Oreo finds out that Elvis did not really die on the toilet in 1977. He is actually living on a Pacific island with JFK and Jimmy Hoffa.

:9 J/K

I'm trying to think of good conspiracy theories... Anyone got any good ideas?

No, uh, that's actually what "Ohio Oreo" would be in the Area 51 gig. ;) And newspaper reporters are actually some of the coolest things ever. :9

Ah, I see! That's a good idea! Not too many adventurers are reporters.

I'll revise my test story:

Ohio Ticks in: Area 51

For years, people have speculated what goes on inside the highly secretive US government base known as Area 51. Some have claimed that aliens are stored and examined here. Others say it is a highly-secretive weapons-making facility. What really is going on inside the secretive base? Jack Ticks, professional journalist/reporter, aims to find out when his friend, Nathan Worthington, goes missing while trying to get inside the complex. With the help of his friends, James Makart and Joe Hunde, Jack plans on sneaking into the covert facility and seeing if the government is really up to something no good and if they abducted his friend. The complex is maximum security-- helicopters, patrol vehicles, tanks, battalions, plain clothes-men, and cameras. Before the three can make it through the Area 51 gauntlet of death, they'll need to assemble a team of experts, each a specialist in their own field. Who knows if they are what they seem? They could only be in it for money, or worse, spies for Russia, China, or some other country.

Danke. :) Yep, Oreo's idea of having him be a reporter is really great and will give it uniqueness if we decide to write this.

And yep, I couldn't resist cracking a joke about the "Elvis is alive, and so is Jimmy Hoffa(or buried under Giants Stadium)" cliche conspiracy. :9

Likely the final edit to the TEST:

(Title) in: (Area 51-ish title)

For years, people have speculated what goes on inside the highly secretive US government base known as Area 51. Ufologists have claimed that aliens are stored and examined here. Some say it is a highly-secretive weapons-making facility, where everything from nuclear weapons to weather control machines are experimented with. Still others claim it is the place where Majestic 12, the founders of a future New World Order, plot to bring about their sinister plans. What really is going on inside the secretive base? Jack Ticks, professional journalist/reporter, aims to find out when his friend, Nathan Worthington, goes missing while trying to get inside the complex. With the help of his friends, James N. Makart and Joe H. Baskerville, ;) Jack plans on sneaking into the covert facility and seeing if the government is really up to something no good and if they abducted his friend. The complex is maximum security -- helicopters, patrol vehicles, tanks, battalions, plain clothes-men, and cameras. Before the three can make it through the Area 51 gauntlet of death, they'll need to assemble a team of experts, each a specialist in their own field, to help them accomplish their goal. Who knows if they are what they seem? They could only be in it for money, or worse, spies for Russia, China, or some other country.

I like the idea of working M12 into it... See the link in the TEST.

So, HK and Oreo: What are the story ideas that you like most? If we do adventurers/sci-fi/historical fiction/conspiracy/espionage, when should it be set? 1920's-30's-40's wouldn't work with a probable Area 51 story, and The Mummy, Johnny Thunder, and Indiana Jones kinda make that over-done. Indy 4 is set in the fifties. National Treasure is set in modern times. How 'bout the 90's, right before or after the collapse of the USSR?

In your plan, it says that the Majestic 12are founders of a new world order with sinister plans, and Wikipedia says that it is a government UFO watch group. Where did you get your info about that? I also think it should be set just after the fall of the USSR. It is sounding better and better!

Yeah, but we can take liberties because it's just a TEST... Teh Estimagated Storyline Thingie. X) Personally, I think all the UFO and NWO stuff is related... *hints at possible plot* <.< >.>

I'm kinda thinking that, since M-12 officially doesn't exist, we can take liberties. *conspiracy voice* Instead of the obvious choice of having the President and military guys be the 12, perhaps it could be 12 world leaders, bent on bringing about the NWO that George Bush the Older talked about, now that the USSR, one of the last bastions of nationalism, is gone.

'Course, all this is subject to change.
