Suggestions on how to make the 'fur'?

On some of the TLG slope bricks, there is an odd texture that I can't explain. It would be GREAT on a ushanka if you can replecate that texture. I hope that this actually is a product, I would buy some.

There's a one furry buffalo hat from the indians line. You could mimic that texture, perhaps.

Make the texture reminiscent of the "Hook" side of Velcro, followed by continued rubbing on a cat or other hairy mammal. Instant fur!
In all seriousness, however, I think htat the grainy slope texture would work the best.

For the fur, I would go with something similar to the texture on the top of the BF mohawk.
But only on the flaps.
