By the way, maybe there should be some kind of participation requirement to get access to the exclusives, so people can't do like I have been and make a forum account and not post anything.

Well, as much as I'd love to see more and more participation I don't know if I want to 'force' the issue on a regular basis. The point being to simply alert the average user to a valuable customization resource and they can decide how much they want to interact. But, the Forum does have a feature to e-mail certain ranks so we could feasibly lock down some exclusive items to members who have xxx amount of posts or hold a certain rank.

But locking exclusives to certain ranks might backfire.
I mean, you will get more activity on the forums, but at the same time you'd probably have to deal with a lot of not-so-meaningful posts from people that just want to rank up.

But being serious, If the first special item is restricted to people who have 100 posts or more, than everyone with 85+ post will try to raise their postcount. If a lot of useless posts are being made, then the Mods can delete them. If there are too many stupid posts then there might be a call for some new mods. Circle of life. . . on a forum.

This is why I am only promoting forum membership to receive exclusives. I don't want to encourage people to fluff their post count w/ useless jabber just to get an item. Doing so will actually strip them of their current rank. We'll just take it one exclusive at a time, k?

Ok, I suppose that is sort of a bad idea, but it bothered me to think of inactive forum accounts. I'm gonna post some things that are not fluff so I am active in a bit, but now I have to email some stuff for chemistry or the lady will beat me up and fail me.
