So I'm a returning FOL... came out of my Dark Age almost one year ago, July of 2013, and am in love all over again.
I used to work with Stikfas, and action figure kit- ball and socket, lots of accessories. A forum sprang up around that product, and for a while was thriving. Lots of friendships, ideas shared, contests... It was a toy made to customize, and it sucked me right in. Well, that toy died, and so did the forum... and so did most of the relationships.
I have a lonely life. Losing that kinda made it worse. I dip and dab all over the Lego-net... Flickr, Brickset, Brickshelf, Bricklink, MOCpages... but it's like ultimate ADD- everything you do or say is 'Poof', then forgotten.
So I'm getting better at being unattached to this coded world.
I'm starting this thread here at BrickForge because this is closer to what I want my toys and play to be. I think the purist approach is cool- Lego has a math to it, and to find that perfect equation that meets your vision is amazing... but don't be a douche about it. I take inspiration from all sorts of things, and almost anything can end up in a minifigs hand- a MegaBlok piece, or a mouse bone. It doesn't matter... it's my imagination speaking.
And since this is a place of imagination realized, I'm going to use this thread as a gallery of BrickForge elements, a showcase of mocs, a blog, a psychiatrist... LOL... consider yourself warned!!!
I want to build big. I want to build beautiful. So I'm starting at the start. There's like 7 zillion MOCs on Flickr that inspire me- from huge table layouts to 11 piece micro-amazingness. But I'm going to do it like the kid I should have been...
So I am elaborating sets for the most part right now... Learning building techniques, getting used to the block. I'm playing with minifig design, and making a few ships and environments from scratch... But I don't want to miss anything, so I'm trying to go through the progression of a child learning this toy for the first time. I don't want miss any of the magic.
I have a Flickr page here:https://www.flickr.com/photos/stikfas/sets/
So, welcome to my journey if you want to watch or walk.
