I don't like most mustangs, unless it is a Cobra, Roush, or Shelby. Otherwise they are generally over rated. GT's can't touch an SS, stock for stock. GM muscle ftw.
I shouldn't even be touching this, but:
Mustang GT 5.0l: 420 hp, 390 lb·ft
Camaro SS 6.2l: 426 hp, 420 lb·ft
Alright, you win this round, however in comparison to size, the GT is more powerful. Also, that's using the LS3, as I recall the L99 is used when the Camaro is equipped with an automatic, which is a weaker engine, while the Mustang retains the same 5.0 with an automatic. The Mustang also has a higher redline, probably due to the DOHC design as opposed to SOHC in the Camaro engines. I won't disagree that, in some cases, the Mustang is overrated though.
Don't worry I'm a generally friendly guy when it comes to cars
However, through the years, comparing SS to GT, the Camaro is consistently faster than the mustang. In '02, the last year for the camaro for a while, the SS had the 5.7L LS1 which made an under rated 325hp, and 350lb of torque. The GT had a much smaller 4.6 with about 260hp and 300lbs of torque. The Camaro also weighed more.
Plus the LS1 is an LS1, you can go find a 98 LS1 and the parts will fit a 2002 LS1. The ford 4.6 Modular engine isn't the same way, they were constantly upgrading it and changing things like the cams and heads.
And I haven't bought a clay bar yet.
What's that do?
It's a detailing tool, it gets rid of all the fine dust, dirt, scratches, particles, everything. Makes it super smooth. I got a clay bar kit yesterday and did my car.
It ended up taking me about 5 hours, including washing, drying, clay barring, and waxing. Didn't have a polisher, or I probably could've added another hour of work.
