@_@ One of my parents was born in the back seat of one of those... That's a random coincidence.

Thank you for that mental image.

My best friend bought a 1911 today... It's sick. I love it.

M1911? Sweet. I still need to find my Dad's gun and see if that's what his is. He hasn't fired it in ten years, and only fired it once before that. xD

Yep, American Tactical M1911, and 100 rounds of full metal jacket .45... Fun stuff.

Will a 1911 in a shoe box for ten years be in operable condition after a cleaning? I'd hate for my dad's to have rusted/corroded to a point where it needs restoration or something. I'm not sure if it was Parkerized...

I'm really hoping it's a 1911, and not a lamer one. I haven't seen it since it was eight.

1911? If you clean it up real well, it should work alright. Inspect it, clean it, and oil it well though before putting any rounds through it. If you can, take it apart and inspect barrel and make sure there's no debris. Make sure the slide is nice and slick, test the trigger (make sure weapon is cleared first, obviously) then load a magazine and manually pull the slide back repeatedly to see if it ejects rounds before trying to put any rounds through it, and wear some ear pro if you decide to put rounds through it.

Just noticed this. Kind of ironic because I applied at Home Depot last week. Good luck man, hope you get the job.

Awesome! I'm totally going to buy a hunting rifle this year, too. My bro in law has a TON of guns, and he can teach me how and which one fits my budget. In a two week visit at his house, probably nine groundhogs and a couple foxes got their brains blown out. I think the one he used on groundhogs is .275 ?police? issue. I think. I'm pretty sure he might have used a Nosler M48 TGR, too.
