Anywho, I'm looking for a second opinion... and thirds... and fourths for that matter, in fact, as many opinions as can be mustered.

Wow, that is looking pretty good! To me it looks more to the steampunk side of things, but I find that a good thing.

That is pretty cool!
The only thing I think I'd change is to make the handle-end out of something that looks like wood - or take a fine pointed object and do a little bit of engraving, for woodgrain, and run a light or dark brown wash to bring out the details.
