The most expensive minifigure I've bought so far is RA-7, at a whopping twenty bucks! Not a big surprise I guess considering he's from one of the most expensive Lego sets of all time, the Death Star aka "Dollhouse For Men". :)

As far as individual pieces it's probably some of the more rarer colored parts. Like these ice cream scoops I bought a few days ago, or other food items I've bought, like the old complete turkey. I also bought a chrome gold brick that was pretty pricey.

...I usually avoid expensive chrome silver/gold/etc items though, just because it's hard to tell genuine ones from fakes, especially now that there's an entire "business" centered completely on huffing minifigs and parts with chrome gold/silver spray paint.

Animals can get pretty pricey too, especially the great big ones like the dragons, although I don't really collect too many of those.

It has occurred to me though that in recent years Lego has produced enough variety of animals that they could do a zoo series, which I think would be pretty awesome. Each set could be like one of the animal attractions... alligators... elephants... ostriches... bears... bug/insect house... etc, etc.

So what are some of the most expensive Legos you've bought? Sets? Minifigs? Pieces?

$600 for a Bionicle prototype mask. Times that by 2.

Ouch! That's not just hurting your wallet, that's torturing it! : D

Been thinking for awhile about buying the Super Star Destroyer...I guess I probably should, before it goes up any more in price. The regular Star Destroy is already selling for $800+ for a brand new one. If anything, Lego is certainly a good investment in most cases.

I'd never pay so much for one or two parts. I did buy the troll warship just for the dragon back when it was available. Last time I looked that green dragon fetched a fair amount. Also the original Batmen seem to be going for a lot now as well. The most I've paid though was for the Queen Anne's Revenge and that was $120. I agree though, Lego does seem to be a good investment. I just don't plan on reselling. Eventually my kids will inherit the collection, and hopefully enjoy and add to it.

I think I paid about $250 for the first republic dropship. As soon as I saw they were in the cartoon I was pretty sure they were gonna make a new one, and they did.

Well, just beat my old record for single pieces. I bought the first and only blue ice cream scoops for ~$20 on BrickLink:

No idea where it came from (maybe a test strike, although those are usually red or milky white), but it's pretty cool and it's mine now! :D

--edit--

He said they came from Legoland in Denmark, the real deal, not just fan painted.

That's crazy cool!!

I think my highest kits have been the ships, like the PoTC Black Pearl, full prices on the Kingdom Castle set.
