I am pretty sure a reference picture isn't necessary. They are in use at schools, military facilities, sporting events, just to name a few. If BrickForge ever decided to put this rather large piece on a mold, I think using this template would be best for sizing. Color would be limited to Black, Trusilver, and Steel.

That would be sweet and useful for a lot of building structures. I'm for it!

That would be great for prisons and such! I support!

I use the piece you posted as a size example for fences and such all the time, and I've definitely thought it would be cool to have a chain link version. :)
If done right it could also be set horizontal for diamond cut mesh, often used for catwalks/scaffolding and such.

I can see many uses for this.
Well, obviously it could be a fence, and it could be a catwalk like SV pointed out, but I meant for vigs. You could cut out a portion of it and bend it out, showing some special forces sneaking through. Or a prison break.

Hey, maybe a mold of a chain link fence with the gash already included. Just a thought. You wouldn't be able to get the curled part like you see with cut fences, but you could have a diagonal looking gash. I'm sure you can all visualize what I am thinking since a picture fails me atm.

This I support and would buy if it was done right.
I saw a display picture somewhere with a bunch of these
http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=48294
in white being used as chain link fencing so maybe that part can give some inspiration.

I personally love this idea - I'm going to add my two-cents if it's not imposing.
Things I immedietly thought of upon seeing this;

-I would think that the whole border from the original piece would ideally be left as it were, for support and stability reasons. This also has the potential to "stack" or interlock sections of fence via C-clips or standard connectors on all sides. Also adds the possibility of barbed wire along the top. Alternitively...

-1x1 female connectors at the bottom and 1x1 male connectors on the top corners respectively,
and the original border along the sides. Gives the piece flexibility around the center, possibility to stack, and the option of adding C-clips or standard connectors along the sides to link them together.
This would also be useful when trying to make a "gate" in the fence.

-Aside from the standard colors disclosed - trans red/green as an example, would make for phenominal laser fences for all you sci-fi enthusiasts.
Perhaps this would be better as a slightly modified/different version alltogether.

-These would also make great catwalks and see-through flooring for ships, dungeons, ect.

I'm glad to see a lot of you had the same ideas.
Regards,
Wedgewood

Sorry to revive this but I always thought about a chain link fence and how cool it would be, to add my 2 pennies (from England hehe) a bronze colour or rust would be good too for apocalypse mocs aswell as gold for steampunk maybes.

I'd like to see a bigger version of LEGO's chain link fencing (http://www.bricklink.com/PL/3185.gif?0) but with a grippable border instead of a base tile to allow for endless possibilities in customization.
