There is one movie version but you should NEVER watch it! Gollum looks like a frog and is the height of a man! Smaug has the head of a chiuahua! (is that spelled right?)

Let's stay on topic. I wanted to add that at first I didn't catch that the blade was from the gladius instead of the rogue biter. Extra points for that :)

Thanks! The reason I did that was because the rogue biter blade is way to short.

Thanks for comments!

Sting is short- it's only a sword for Bilbo because he's shorter even than the dwarves. When they find it, it's described as a dagger.

Yes but it also said it was as good as a sword for a Hobbit. Therefore, it can't be that short!

It's as good as a sword for a Hobbit because Hobbits are so small that an Elf's knife is proportionally the size of a sword to a Hobbit.

Sting is about 20" long including handle.
That's about the length of a blade of a gladius.
Therefore, Sting sits somewhere between Dagger and Short sword.

the only references I found to a 20" Sting are related to the film prop or replicas. If you're referring to more accurate source (Tolkien's letters, or a passage in the book) I can't find it and would appreciate sauce. Otherwise, I call BS. ;)
