I figured since I slightly altered this MOC from 2 yrs ago and uploaded to Flickr now, I'd share it again. It's also a prelude to the other 2 WIP's I am working on. 2 more 32 x 32 structures. This one is altered by replacing the green 32 x 32 base plate with 2 tan 16 x 32 places and making the interior accessible with hinge bricks. Enjoy.

Thanks MC. I really enjoyed building this 32 x 32 castle because it took me back to the roots of my building. The hinge bricks might be one of the most under-rated pieces Lego has to offer. I had spent so many years trying to think of scale in reality and how comfortable with having room, I began to forget the magic of Lego scale being way different. This build was a refreshing reminder that just because I have a ton of pieces doesn't mean I have to try to build a massive castle. Once I get my other 32 x 32 structures build, I hope to be able to take a picture with them all in it at once.

Sweet!
I agree about the hinge pieces. I've been pondering how to build a great structure without it being massive too. I also want to be able to open it as you have yours. Thanks for sharing this, it will be a great reference for me once I get to the point I can actually work on mine.

My next two 32 x 32 structures will feature a 16 x 32 base plate in the front and two 16 x 16 base plates in the rear so that the back opens into 2 sections. It is the same way the old Kings Castle Lego made, which was my first big castle set.

That's cool. I didn't get into legos until after that, around when they start the Black Knights series.
Very Cool!

Beautiful job QB. It's MOCs like this that make me love Lego so much.
