6066 Camouflaged Outpost might very well be my favorite castle set of all time. I bought this set in the summer of 1987 while on vacation in Lansing MI, at a TRU with my birthday money I had saved up. I remember seeing it for the first time and going crazy....err....crazier. This set had 6 figures and I think at the time cost between $20 and $30 (someone correct me if I am wrong). The idea of having a Robin Hood type set that actually looked like a hideout really drew me in. Fast forward to last year when I saw AaronD make a redo of another popular set 6054 Forestman's Hideout (Redux). Pretty cool that he first posted it exactly 1 year to when I started this build (Aug 11th). I had my original one built (slightly modified) sitting on the shelf and thought I'd give it a shot. I wanted to make it brown instead of black, do away with most of the prefabbed walls, and add my own flare with some customized figures and accessories. So here is my result. I really love this set and I am very pleased with my results.




Notice the double arched brick tree limbs. This was from an idea I got from Elephant Knight.

Vacationing in Lansing? Hopefully you have relatives there, because Lansing isn't that exciting (I actually drove through it today.)

Love all of the hidden doors and stuff. Did you paint Quickblade's hood that sand green color, or is it custom cast?

@hawkxs - My mom had a best friend that lived there and we used to go there for a week almost every summer for many years. The hood is painted dark green. It matches the dark green cape that is made out of cloth.

This is what the original set looks like. A NIB set is currently selling on Bricklink for approximately between $350 and $700

That looks awesome. It still holds the same feel as the original but still has your own "flavor" to it. Honestly, if LEGO were to redo this set, I think it would end up looking more like your version as LEGO official sets have become more detailed since the 80's and early 90's.

Nice job, Quickblade! The Forestmen were one of my favorite themes in Castle, and I still regret giving away my sets when I was in High School.... I still have the Forestmen's River Fortress instructions and have been planing a re-do of that when I get around to it....

Daken: Well, when you consider that the set originally came out in 1987, which means that it's over 24 years old, Mint In Box sets are going to be rather rare and command an appropriate price....
