That is the Question.

well recently I had plans on trying my hand at a TerraCotta chinese army, so ordered some parts from another customizer and did some checking.

well first off got the parts then needed to get the minifig parts, went with Tan and discovered to my horror Tan Hands aint cheap, so attempted painting and discovered my paint did not match LEGO's "Tan" and BrickTW's "Tan" so then went one step further and decided to paint the whole fig and the BrickTW stuff, so I got some old used minifig parts (pretty useless in their own way) and painted them and here is the (Almost) final product, whats your opinion and does it make it look more (TerraCotta) looking or not?

if anything this is my way of reusing beyond the grave minifig parts.

Needs more red, though I recall the terracotta army had Jade armor.

do plan on doing some more painting on them but deciding on the base coat first.

also none I saw had jade armor, maybe the king did but not the reg. soldiers.

Now that I think more about it, it may have been just the emperor, that or I was thinking of a different thing. And I meant the base coat needs more red, terracotta's more redish.

I think it looks best as is. Even if it doesn't match LEGO tan it still has the basic look of it. Unless you can match sand red, I would leave it like this

It looks pink. And more like rubied edges than terra cotta.

I would have stuck with tan.

Well that is still an option, since these are still a work in progress.

Edit: I did another touch up to reduce the red coloring:
