JoJo is indeed among the best builders. I don't recall seeing that specific MOC, however.

And most people get there bricks from BrickLink, LEGO sets, or a combination of both.

Problems I run into are:
1. Not having enough pieces
2. Not being able to find all the pieces
3. Distractions (cats wrecking things, spontanious fishing trips, ect.)

People oftentimes use BrickLink to obtain large amounts of pieces. It is cheap and good for bulk parts.
