Guys, I'm just wondering if someone could provide some info/guidance on this. I came across a great Flickr page with Star Trek Original Series decal graphics for Klingons and the like, but wondered how one would go about getting these printed for minifig customization?

From what I understand the printer needed to do the decals is VERY pricey but certainly someone offers a service where you provide the art and they do the printing. No?

I think the foremention decals are free to use with a credit to their creator as it states:

Please give credit if you use them... thx !!!

I found this place which appears to do custom printing for bricks. Anyone use them before?

Do you mean merely making decals, or printing directly onto the torso?

Either or. I was told just printing them onto decal paper (waterslide) and actually making them look good is a challenge. A good printer (or specialty printer?) is a must.

On the other hand... looking at this BrickPrinter service this may be worth it's weight in plastic just for the convenience of having it printed right onto to the torsos/heads. It'll probably stand up to excessive handling better than waterslide decals I'd image.

Tommy Armstrong provides excellent printing and engraving. I have been getting stuff made from him since 2005.

Thanks Omi. Any pics of stuff he's finished for you?

I emailed him yesterday but have not heard back from him.

Well he does the badges for pretty much all Lego conventions:

My badge
Other than the usual stuff, the Big Pimpin BAMF was a custom requests. I have other bricks made by him as well.

And it is his busy season too. :P

The badge looks great! I guess his slow reply is due to the busy season you speak of. Thanks for the info.

I actually ordered some engraved bricks from Tommy, I also have some of his printed items, they are great! He is a little slow to respond to E-mails (I think his spam filter just needs tweaked), but he has great service. He misread my E-mail order, and accidentally made twice as many bricks as I ordered, he gave the extras to me at no cost. I highly recommend him.
