@Napo: Get used to it. Before long there won't be any WWII vets, and the war will be like fiction to most people. Sickening, but true.

Man. Black Lagoon is a really good anime.

It is sad, most folks really don't understand how 'their freedoms and rights' were upheld by such brave men and women. I live where there are several old Veterans, WWII, and forward. Many have paid dearly for our rights, good for you Napo for gracing that man with some respect and appreciation.

Pulled out the dremel last night ... the Fallen are one step closer.

Aw man, you're right-on, Mac. And then we'll probably treat it like we do WWI: forget it completely. :(

Napo: Yeah, I make it a point to thank any WWII vets I see, and try to support local WWII living history events. That war was too important for people to just forget about it, or those who fought in it. One time, when the WWII veteran who I thanked saw that I was wearing my US Navy work jacket (which still has my 2nd Class insignia on it) and he found out I was involved in Afghanistan and Iraq, he actually thanked me! That pretty much floored me: I didn't know how to respond to someone who basically saved the world thanking me for my relatively insignificant involvement in a conflict that doesn't even compare....

Of course, I wonder if I'll live long enough to see the 70th anniversary of the war on terror (or if the war will even be over by then)...

Anyways, on a more cheerful note, I decided to create a montage of one of my side projects (I've been mostly working on it during break and lunch at work). I present the Codex Minecraftia:

Codex Minecraftia by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr

In addition to being a general guide/crafting recipie book for Minecraft, I'm also putting in some of my general structural designs and useful redstone circuits in it for referece.

Why am I doing this? Well, mostly for the lulz, but also in hopes that I can troll some archaeologists in a few hundred years...

Oh man. I was just looking at the Miss Universe cultural section on theChive. All the contestants wear an outfit that represents their countries cultures. So I'm scrolling through and everything seems pretty cultural relevant. Then I get to America. Do you know what the outfit was? A red, white and blue Transformers outfit. Transformers isn't even American. I just burst out laughing.

@Hikaro: That book is pretty sweet! Hell I would order a copy if I could! :)

@Miss Universe; he is not kidding. I saw this before, was laughing hysterically.

The part I find funniest is that Transformers is actually Japanese. At least originally. Plus it looks like somebody made that costume in their nerd cave out of old cardboard.
