So...I got a wild hair up my butt the other day and decided, hey, I wanna collect all the SW astro-mech droids!

I've run into a couple snags though:


Those are the head pieces for R4-P17 and R4-G9...but they don't come with bodies! The sets they're from just stick the head onto ship (kinda cheap).

So my question is...what are they supposed to actually look like and is it possible to use the base from another astro-mech to complete them? Either that or if there are stickers available that could be used to make them.

I noticed something else though today. I bought these three on Bricklink yesterday:


...only on Lego's website it says they haven't even been released yet! o_O

...so I'm wondering if the ones I ordered are actually real or are they knock-offs or something? The people who sold them all had lots of positive feedback, no negatives, and there was nothing in the description saying that they weren't real...just kinda weird I guess.

I believe they've been released in Europe, but not America.
Try googling the droids ID in images, and see if you find a close match.

I guess that would explain why they're coming from Poland then.

I wonder if it's possible to access the European Lego website and then have them ship stuff to a US address.

I found some images of the two droids and it looks like R4-G9 is white with copper accents. And R4-P17 is white to off white in color (almost tan looking in some pictures) with red accents.

As such, I guess R7-D4's base would go best with R4-G9 (although it should have more white), and R5-D4's base would go best with R4-P17.

Alternatively I guess I could make a sticker for R4-G9, just vector trace one of the existing patterns and then replace the main color with a copper gradient effect and then stick it on a plain white base.
