That Plastic Shine!

Hi all!
I have a few items that have that nice plastic shine...but I would like to make them sort of dull, for example, a cowboy hat. It looks more like a hard hat because of the shine instead of a cloth hat! What can I do/use to take away that shine? Again, thanks in advance for your help!

Extremely fine sandpaper would be my guess. Either that, or rub some nail-polish remover on it. I did that to one of my minifigs in an attempt at brasso-ing, and it failed completely.

No. Bad idea. Don't use nail polish remover on any legos you still want in one piece....

Well, I did it, and it didn't make it fall apart. It just took away all the printing and all the shininess.

Using something like Gojo will remove the oily plastic sheen, and if you do it like a quick bath won't hurt any print either.

Thanks for these ideas! I'll have to find some very fine sandpaper and experiment on an old brick. And mC, I do happen to have some Gojo...never thought about using that but I'll give it a shot sometime today!

I use it for 'light cleaning' (to remove the sheen) and for printing removal. I've been happy with it.
