These are some of the character sketches I've been working on for my daught ...

I start all my drawings like this: a basic body view
Image

Then I "sketch it out" and see how a simple 'dress up' turns out.
Image Believe it or not, this is the above body - no size changes - only clothing added. :o)

Here's two others from this set of 16 that I've 'dressed up'.

The poodle hair-do will be changed!!! lol

They actually have different heights and weights too!
Once we agree on what we really want in these, then I'll do a pre-mock up (to double check) and then a final drawing.
Being a perfectionist is a lot of work, lol.

Very nice! The Second character's arms are a bit stiff though, that's my only peeve. :)

Oh yes, they are very posed right now. That will change once I get all the details of clothing, face, etc down.
My daught also wants a 'profile' style pic of each as well. So, I may keep these simpler and do the 'reality works' on just the profiles, we'll see.

Here's one of the more serious sketches for my daught to work with, not sure if she'll want a colored version or not.

Gold Jem:

Tint of sepia is from using my phone with natural lighting ... thought it was fitting for the age of the pic :o)

Enjoy

Thanks, and no, who is he?

I'm working on the second of profile portrait for Rach ... dealing with the hair now :o)

edit: I looked him up. He's really good.
I like a the way Lee Hammond approaches her pencil work, she's great with the shading too; instead of 5 pencils she uses 5 shade tones, same idea though.

Darrell Tank is a professional Caricature artist. He provides free tutorial videos on his website: Five Pencil Method.com

His stuff has really helped me. :)

Those aren't caricatures, mate.

But nice work, mC! :)
