Despite possible protest by the masses the BrickForge emissaries are contemplating switching from Gray to Bley.
As much as we disagreed with TLG's switch; more and more people are using Bley in their MOCs - especially newcomers to the hobby.
Since BrickForge is all about compatibility we do see adequate reason for conversion. We'd like your opinion.

As much as I despise bley, what choices do we have? The new light grey isn't so bad, but the new bluish dark grey (and the new brown) is and always will be horrible in my opinion. Until LEGO decides to do another color change we're stuck with it though. The only way to get the old dark grey is Bricklink and ebay (among other sources) so I'd say go with matching LEGO for now.

Personally I think you should use both because the new bley is good if you want to make a moc looked aged. I've done that before and the results are great.

Hooray for Bley!

I've made the switch, and went with bley bricks and what-all in my building and such. I love the old colors, but really, it's only when compared to the old colors that the bleys seem out of place. It's just to impractical in my opinion to use the old greys (Unless you already have a bounty of old grey bricks) nowdays, due to the fact that they are more expensive, and when you buy new sets, you can't add those new bricks to your grey collection.

I myself would love to see BrickForge products in the new colors, so that they fit in with my Knights and their surroundings better. Maybe still producing some in the old colors too, as Ariana has suggested, that way diehard grey fans won't be dissappointed.

Bley is the way of the future.
Though to be honest I mix anyway, so it doesn't really matter much to me.

As much as I hate to say, I think that BrickForge should move on to bley. It makes it so much easier to make custom minifigs with the gray parts.

See, I don't mind bleys and rowns (reddish browns ;) ) much. I mix browns, but never grays and bleys. Consequently, I have more bleys than grays, so I do use more bleys. Switching is fine with me. :)

Personally, I use all shades depending on what I need them for, or which shade I have more parts in. I think old and new greys can be mixed as long as its done artfully, with certain sections one shade and certain sections another. It works especially well on greebling.

But anyway...

I'd have to vote for Classic Grey. It just looks so much more... real, somehow. I have a hard time imagining bley (especially dark bley) as being metal, whereas old grey seems more like steel or iron without stretching the imagination too much. But I realize I'm going against the grain here and it's probably wiser to just make the switch. *sniff* Too bad it's probably not cost-effective to offer both.

It doesn't really matter to me at this point. Bley is here to stay. I think if Brick Forge can get the color closer to bley than it did with gray, then by all means do it.

It's a hard choice, because We're going to be seenig more and more of bley, but the old grey is actually grey. Honestly though, I don't notice the difference unless they're close to each other. Mostly, however, I agree with what scorp said. The old grey looks more like metal, and if I could tell Lego which to produce, I'd say the old grey was better. Unfortunatley You just can't fight change that's out of your control. It's kinda depressing... :( :'(
